As part of the resort’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, One&Only Reethi Rah is focusing on plastic recycling. The resort is a proud partner of Parley for the Oceans, an innovative international organisation that repurposes plastic waste into Adidas sports apparel and shoes. The resort segregates all plastic items before sending them to Parley, who clean and process the items for recycling. The resort has also partnered with The Olive Ridley Project (ORP) which works towards protecting the Indian Ocean from ghost nests through research, removal and awareness. As part of the partnership, the resort has funded the construction of a turtle rehabilitation habitat at the resort and introduced a dedicated turtle Marine Biologist to care for turtle patients, organise educational presentations for guests and monitor the turtle population within nearby reefs. The Marine Biologists are also responsible for the extensive coral propagation project situated at Resorts' house reef, this project has been succesful in growing new coral around the reef and attracting an abundance of marine life for the enjoyment of all.
