Shanghai is an economic powerhouse that has undergone a huge transformation from backwater fishing village to major commercial center. Along the way, foreign nations established concessions in the city, gangsters roamed the streets, and the rich indulged their every whim amidst the opulent decadence of the "Paris of the East." Shanghai retains remnants of its rich past in the form of the French Concession and the graceful colonial buildings along the Bund. Nearby these nostalgic buildings evocative of Old Shanghai are the iconic, towering skyscrapers of Pudong. Explore both new and old Shanghai on this journey through China's biggest city.
