Paris is a city packed with treasures and wonderful things to see and do. Central Paris is divided into 14 areas, arrondissements, and nearby Montmartre. Most of the city’s famous sights are within reach of the heart of the city and easily reached on foot or by public transportation. Each area contains a range of sights that convey some of its history and distinctive character.

No other European city defines itself by its river in the same way as Paris. The Seine is the essential point of reference to the city – it divides the capital into two distinct areas with the Right Bank on the north side of the river and the Left Bank on its south side. Practically every building of note in Paris is either along the river or within a stone’s throw. The river is also very much alive with boat traffic that includes the many different sightseeing cruise that give you a unique view.

Today your private guide will meet you at your hotel and you will enjoy a fun and interesting full day walking tour of the Paris highlights and Louvre Discovery.

Beginning in the heart of the city, where Paris began, on the Ile de la Cité. The first inhabitants over 2,000 years ago by Celtic tribes, one which eventually gave its name to the city, the Parisii. In later centuries the settlements expanded to the Romans, the Frans and the Capetian kings to form the nucleus of today’s city. There is no older place in Paris and is also the place that holds the magnificent and historical Notre Dame cathedral.

Cross the Seine and you will walk to the Louvre and the Right Bank to discover the main sights and monuments. Today you will also enjoy a very interesting discovery visit at the famous Louvre Museum. The Louvre, in its successive architectural metamorphoses, has dominated central Paris since the late 12th century. You will discover the famous pyramid made of glass and metal created by architect Mr Pei and built in 1989 and then the museum. Quite a maze there! But the museum features a very impressive and prestigious collection for your delight including the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, Winged Victory and some great Vermeer.

From the Louvre, enjoy a stroll through the charming Jardin des Tuileries to the Place de la Concorde which harbors the historical obelisk & Place Vendome.

Follow Avenue des Champs-Elysées with stops to experience the elegance of the avenue Montaigne to marvel at its many grand fashion houses. Continue on to the world-famous Arc de Triomphe, the center monument where the twelve avenues radiate from, that celebrates the triumph of battle.

Crossing over to the Left Bank, you will pass Invalides and the Eiffel Tower Quarter. Originally built as a temporary addition to the Paris skyline, the Eiffel Tower (Tour Eiffel) is now a symbol of Paris that reaches 905ft above ground. (A visit can be arranged for another time if you like either with tickets or a tour – small group or private.)

The Left Bank is fuller and livelier, its streets and cafés the were at the forefront of the city’s intellectual life. St Germain des Pres became synonymous with intellectual life, a long-time haunt of writers, actors, philosophers and musicians mingles in the cellar nightspots and brasseries. The Latin Quarter, named by Rabelais after the students & professors who spoke Latin in the classrooms & the streets, contains more history & beautiful monuments that any other part of Paris. During this relaxing walk you will make your way from the Pantheon, the final resting place of France’s most famous citizens, to the manicured Luxembourg gardens via the infamous Boulevard St Michel.
